Safety was one of the top concerns of Wicomico County School Superintendent Donna Hanlin during her state of the schools report yesterday.
During a presentation to dozens of community advocates at Parkside High School she said a task force is moving forward to collaborate with local law enforcement officials including the sheriff’s office and state’s attorney.
WBOC reports Hanlin said that in order to deal with violence in the schools the sheriff’s office will designate a detective as a liaison for school based investigations.
Hanlin also noted that graduation rates are up and that the district is working on teacher retention.
