WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - Police in Wilmington say a teenager was shot and killed in the Eastlake neighborhood, marking the city's 20th homicide in 2019, surpassing last year's total.

The Delaware News Journal reports the shooting on Monday marks the city's 20th fatal shooting in 2019, surpassing the total from last year. Investigators say the unidentified victim was taken to a local hospital, where he died.

Officers responding to a report of a shooting about 8:05 p.m. Monday found a 19-year-old man who had been shot.

The shooting took place about a half-mile away from where another 19-year-old was shot dead last month.
