Wilmington Night Out in Wake of Shootings
Those that gathered for Wilmington National Night Out did so in the wake of the mass shootings in El Paso and Dayton leaving 31 dead.
As people gathered to promote public safety one longtime resident told the Wilmington News Journal that they were praying such carnage does not happen in their city.
The event was planned long before the recent shootings but first emergency responded described what to do in the case of such events.
Attendees also received free public-safety materials as well as providing an opportunity for parents to apply for identification cards for their children.
