The barn that was the home of the famed Misty of Chincoteague burned down last night.

Denise Bowden with the Chincoteague Volunteer Fire Company told the Salisbury Daily Times that the structure on the Beebe Ranch was fully engulfed in flames that rose 30 feet into the sky.

In addition, the two homes on the north side of the barn also suffered damage.

But Bowden added that all of the horses were accounted for including some of Misty’s descendants.

No injuries were reported and an investigation is now underway into the cause of the blaze.
