Water Quality Advisories for Broadkill and Slaughter Beaches

Delaware Government

There’s a water quality advisory for Broadkill and Slaughter beaches.

The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control says a sampling of the water found potentially harmful bacteria above safe levels which is associated with fecal matter.

The Surfrider Foundation told WBOC that it is not uncommon to see this type of bacteria at this time of the year.

DNREC says that heavy surf and high winds are making it difficult to get a representative sample of the water.

The advisories are expected to expire today.
