A man has been arrested for allegedly assaulting Wicomico County Council member Larry Dodd.

41-year-old Ian Lundberg allegedly assaulted Dodd with a baseball bat as the result of an escalating argument.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports that Wicomico County Council President John Cannon confirmed that Dodd was indeed the victim.

Police say that the two were engaged in a dispute over a dog that had bitten another dog.

Authorities say that Lundberg of Ocean Pines allegedly walked onto Dodd’s property and began to argue with the councilman as Dodd stood in the door way of his home with a baseball bat.

Police say that Lundberg allegedly pushed his way into the home punched Dodd, grabbed the bat and then hit the councilman in the head with it.

Dodd was treated at Peninsula Regional Medical Center for his injuries which were not considered life threatening.
