South Bethany Beach Has New Police Chief

South Bethany Beach Police Department Logo

South Bethany Beach has a new police chief.

He is Jason Lovins who will start next Monday as the city works out a contract.

WBOC reports that Lovins has been in law enforcement for the last 25 years.

The last three have been with the Dewey Beach Police Department.

He succeeds Troy Crowson who notified the resort last month that he was retiring.

The department will also have four officers after being down by one.

The city says it is committed to hiring more.
