Pirate's Wharf Project Considered by Wicomico County Council

official photo

Wicomico County is considering development of the Pirate’s Wharf property for a public park.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports that money for the project would come from state and local funds to match $820-thousand from a federal grant.

It would be the largest such award in Maryland for that round of grant funding.

The paper reports that county has owned the 340 acres on Whitehaven Road since the late 1990’s.

But County Council member Joe Holloway said that while he was happy to see the project move along he did have some concerns.

Acceptance of the federal money must still be approved by the council with an amendment to the county budget.
