Former Delaware State Rep. Atkins Pleads Guilty

Former Delaware State Representative John Atkins has pleaded guilty for contacting a women he assaulted in July.

The counts against the 48-year-old from Millsboro included assault in the third-degree as well as three charges of breach of release.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports that Atkins was sentenced to 22-days in jail and one year probation.

He will be held in detention until an electronic GPS devise has been given to him.

In addition, he may not possess any firearms for five years and any that he does possess will be confiscated.

In addition, Atkins must undergo substance abuse and mental health evaluations as well under counseling for domestic violence.
