The Story of an Undocumented Father in Delaware

creative commons

While the focus of the nation has been on the separation of children from their parents at the U.S. Mexico border, the separation of families has become a part of life for the undocumented. Delmarva Public Radio's Don Rush tells the story of Jose Santillan and his family after he was picked up by immigration authorities just as he set out for his tire business last month.

Don Rush is the News Director and Senior Producer of News and Public Affairs at Delmarva Public Media. An award-winning journalist, Don reports major local issues of the day, from sea level rise, to urban development, to the changing demographics of Delmarva.
