WOODBRIDGE, Va. (AP) - Authorities have identified two brothers who died after their small boat capsized on the Potomac River.
The Department of Natural Resources Police in Maryland identified them Monday in a tweet as 45-year-old Fermin Alvarado and 31-year-old Matias Alvarado-Arrue. Both men lived in Woodbridge, Virginia.
Their bodies have been taken to the medical examiner's office in Baltimore for autopsies.
Their 15-foot bass boat capsized about a mile south of Leesylvania State Park in Woodbridge in northern Virginia on Sunday afternoon. Coast Guard officials say a tugboat crew saw the boat capsize but could not locate the men in time. The water was 47 degrees.
A search was conducted by boat and helicopter crews from the Coast Guard, the Maryland Department of Natural Resources Police and three area counties.
