A Virginia man has been charged in the murder of a Muslim teenager who had confronted her near a mosque in Sterling,Virginia.

22-year-old Darwin Torres has been charged in the death of 17-year-old Nabra Hassanen.

The Washington Post reports that friends near the All Dulles Area Muslim Society Center had been at a sleep over when they saw some kind of dispute with a man on Sunday morning.

The paper reports that the friends told authorities that the driver left his car and brandished a baseball bat.

The friends scattered and afterward called police.

Hassanen’s body was later found in a pond around two miles from the mosque.

Authorities say a baseball bat was found.

Officials at the Mosque are asking authorities to investigate to see if this was a hate crime.
