David Watson who had escaped the Wicomico County Department of Corrections has been captured by Howard County authorities.

The Delaware man escaped on Friday but by late Wednesday a Howard County police tactical team found him in a drainage pipe in Jessup.

WBOC reports that the officers had been rechecking the area when they spotted Watson.

Watson had been taken to the hospital for evaluation last Friday when he escaped from custody.

He had been convicted of a drive-by shooting of a Dewey Beach police officer and was sentenced to over a hundred years in prison.

WBOC reports that he was also charged with similar offenses in Wicomico County where a judge had ruled him mentally incompetent to stand trial on the Maryland charges.

Watson was reported to be in good condition after being recaptured.
