Delaware Democrats retrained control of the state senate this weekend with the election of Stephanie Hansen in the 10 District.
She swept easily to victory over her Republican rival John Marino with 58 percent of the vote.
Hansen replaces Bethany Hall-Long who vacated the seat to become Lt. Governor.
The special election drew national attention with the Wilmington News Journal reporting nearly a million pouring into the race which was seen as an indicator in the wake of President Trump’s election last year.
Former Vice President Joe Biden and former Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley campaigned in the run up to this weekend’s election.
