MILTON, Del. (AP) - Delaware State Police say a man who was hurt in a home invasion in which his Milton house was set on fire has died of his injuries.

The agency said in a news release Thursday that 78-year-old James Green died Dec. 2 at Christiana Hospital.

Troopers say on Nov. 20, Green was found outside his burning house. Investigators say Green had been sleeping when someone entered the home Sunday morning and hit him in the head with an unknown object, leaving him unconscious.

Police did not say how Green ended up outside the house, which was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived.

The Division of Forensic Sciences ruled Green's death a homicide due to blunt force trauma.
