CRISFIELD, Md. (AP) - Authorities say an adult and two children were killed in a fire that destroyed a home in Crisfield.

The Maryland State Fire Marshal's office says in a news release that three other family members escaped the fire, which broke out shortly before 6:30 a.m. Saturday.

The bodies of the victims have been taken to the Chief Medical Examiner's office to confirm the cause of death. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Investigators say no working smoke detectors were found in the 2  1/2-story, wood-frame home. Several family pets also died in the fire, which took 90 minutes for firefighters to bring under control.
