Harrington Voters Approve Loans for Water System Upgrades

freepik.com

Harrington voters gave the green light yesterday to borrow around $4 million to improve the city’s aging water system.

This allows the city to avoid an additional tax or rate hike.

The vote was overwhelming with around 90 percent of residents giving their approval.

Plans call for putting in bigger water mains under Route 13 and Liberty Street.

In addition, there will be a new water tower along with another well.

WBOC reports that $1.8 million will come from the state Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control while over $2 million will come from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
