The U.S. Department of Agriculture has euthanized 362 resident Canada geese in Salisbury.
The officials were brought in by the city to deal with the excessive population.
The Salisbury Daily Times reports that the USDA has been working with the city over the last 13 or 14 years.
It’s estimated that there are around a quarter of million Canada geese in the state of Maryland.
The paper reports that neither Mayor Jake Day nor any other city officials provided any comment on the operation.
Kevin Sullivan with the USDA said that the city reached out to the Wildlife Services to deal with the over-population in the city that has left droppings and has been overgrazing damaging habitat and polluting the local waters.
