U.S. 40 Bridge Work Near Frederick

FREDERICK, Md. (AP) - The State Highway Administration says bridge work on U.S. 40 just west of Frederick will affect traffic trying to enter westbound Interstate 70 from the state highway.

The agency says in a statement it's closing the westbound U.S. 40 ramp to westbound I-70 for two nights, starting as early as Tuesday.

On those nights, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., westbound U.S. 40 traffic will be detoured to southbound Route 17 and through the town of Myersville before rejoining I-70.

During the closures, crews will remove the driving surface of the eastbound U.S. 40 bridge above the westbound U.S. 40 ramp.

The agency says a $3.5 million project to replace the bridge deck should be complete by next spring.
