Diesel Truck Overturns in Anne Arundel County

mdroads.com

GAMBRILLS, Md. (AP) - Anne Arundel County officials say a tanker truck overturned, spilling diesel fuel and injuring the driver.

The crash occurred Monday morning on Route 3 between Interstate 97 and Route 175 in the Gambrills area. Images from the scene show the tanker on its side in a ditch next to the road.

Fire officials tweet that the driver was taken to Shock Trauma in Baltimore with serious injuries that aren't thought to be life-threatening. Officials say the tanker was carrying about 8,000 gallons of diesel. It was leaking for a time, but officials say crews stopped the leak and are emptying the tanker before removing it.

Officials say crews also are working to contain the diesel and keep it from entering nearby waterways.
