WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - Delaware State Police say a high school student was arrested after bringing an unloaded handgun on campus.

Troopers say the 16-year-old showed the gun to other students in a bathroom at John Dickinson High School in Wilmington Tuesday morning.

Police say one of the students reported the incident to school administrators, who removed the youth from class.

Authorities say a search of the teenager's book bag turned up an unloaded .25 caliber handgun.

Troopers say the youth was charged with three weapons offenses and committed to a juvenile treatment facility.
