Local developers Palmer Gillis and Tony Gilkerson are donating the Plaza Gallery to Salisbury University.
The SU Foundation will facilitate the takeover of the 60-thousand square-foot building that was once owned by the F. W. Woolworth Company during the heyday of downtown Salisbury.
The university says that the structure with its annex amounts to a $4.4 million gift.
Salisbury University President Janet Dudley-Eshbach says that this allows the university to establish a greater presence in the downtown area that has already seen growth.
Acquisition will still need to get approval by the University System of Maryland Board of Regents.
