Petition for Pocomoke Mayor's Resignation Pulled

official photo

The petition calling for the resignation of Pocomoke City Mayor Bruce Morrison has been withdrawn.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports that the Reverend James Jones with the New Macedonia Baptist Church said that the petition would do damage to the community.

Meanwhile, Morrison apologized to both Jones and Pastor Ronnie White of the House of Love Christian Outreach Center for getting “a little out of hand.”

And he apologized to the media for asking them to leave the last council meeting.

The Daily Times reports that Morrison said he made the call because he wanted to have city taxpayers in the room rather than the media.

And he promised that this would not happen again.

The religious leaders represent a group called Citizens for a Better Pocomoke which is calling for the reinstatement of the city’s first black Police Chief Kelvin Sewell
