Boat Explodes in Ocean Pines

OCEAN PINES, Md. (AP) - Police say five people have been taken to a hospital after a boat exploded as it pulled away from a dock in Ocean Pines.

Maryland Natural Resources Police say the 24-foot boat exploded as it pulled away from the dock about 2 p.m. Sunday. Three people were taken to Johns Hopkins Bayview Burn Center in Baltimore, and two others were taken to a local hospital.

Patrick McAllorum tells WBOC-TV he heard the explosion and went to investigate. He says he saw the boat engulfed in flames

The cause of the explosion is still under investigation.

Ocean Pines is about 10 miles outside of Ocean City.
