Jack Heath to Replace Terry Cohen on Salisbury City Council

msa.maryland.gov

68-year old Jack Heath is set to succeed Terry Cohen on the Salisbury City Council.

Last night the council met and announced their choice out of dozen applicants.

Heath was the former CEO of Lower Shore Enterprises which provides job assistance and training for the disabled.

He said that he would rely on his decades of business experience in an effort to revive the local economy.

"The first thing is to finish the job that has been started with downtown revitalization. The next thing we need to do is to start looking at how to increase the jobs...How to get businesses to come into Salisbury."

Council President Jake Day said it was not easy sifting through the list of candidates.

But, he said, Heath came with some serious experience.

"This is someone who has worked for organizations like Lower Shore Enterprises. And right there you can see there is a person who has a commitment to people in need and a commitment to improving the quality of their lives. And in addition to that, (he) is a person who has community leadership. He has been in executive positions there and has had to make difficult decisions and has dealt with some challenges."

Heath will be sworn in on Tuesday.

Cohen left the council due to personal obligations.
