Delaware State Fair Opens to Good Weather

Delaware State Fair logo

The Delaware State Fair got underway yesterday to some good weather in Harrington.

Last year's attendance came in at 239-thousand people.

That's down from 260-thousand in 2012.

WBOC reports that organizers believe that the numbers should be better this year because of a stronger entertainment lineup that includes country stars like Keith Urban and Lady Antebellum.

In addition, last year Delmarva was in the midst of a heat wave.

Also expect some Delaware brewers to show up like Dogfish Head and Fordham Brewing companies as well as local wineries.

Among the new features this year is a new beer and wine garden called The Roost and a smartphone app that can be used to buy tickets, make schedules and save money with coupons.

The fair runs through July 26th.
