"Ticket or Click It" Campaign Begins in Delaware

WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - Delaware law enforcement agencies are gearing up for a seat-belt enforcement campaign that will run through Memorial Day.

The "Click it Or Ticket" campaign begins Monday.

WDEL-AM reports it will include seat-belt usage checkpoints in Wilmington and Dover, as well as saturation patrols by 35 state and local agencies. The Office of Highway Safety says most enforcement actions will occur in the afternoons and evenings. That's when unrestrained injuries and fatal crashes are more likely to occur.

The agency says Delaware's seat belt use is at 92 percent, compared with a national rate of 86 percent.

Police in Delaware will also participate in a one-day regional enforcement blitz May 19, along officers in Maryland, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
