Toll Road for Rt. 404?

legis.delaware.gov

Delaware State Representative John Atkins is suggesting that the state build a toll road along route 404 west of Bridgeville to bring in more revenue.

It’s one of the most heavily traveled roads during the summer as vacationers head towards the beach.

The Millsboro Democrat said that he has gotten a lot of complaints from residents about the recent increase in gas prices and called this an alternative to way to raise revenue.

He told WBOC that the main selling point is that the majority of the revenue for shoring up the state’s roadways would come from out-of-state travelers.

But some local businesses fear that the toll would allow motorists to bypass Bridgeville thus losing business.
