Rudy Cane Donation to Political Challenger

msa.maryland.gov

Delegate Rudy Cane contributed $6-thousand to Sheree Sample-Hughes.

The catch?

She is his Democratic primary opponent.

Cane told the Salisbury Daily Times that when he gave her the donation he was in the midst of a personal medical issue and did not plan on running again.

Sample-Hughes said the Cane told her about his illness and asked if she would be willing to run in the District 37A that covers parts of Dorchester and Wicomico Counties.

She said yes and filed papers before Cane got a second opinion saying he would be able to campaign.

Cane told the paper that he has not had a re-occurrence of the same issue and has surgery scheduled at Johns Hopkins University Hospital.

While not sure if he will be able to complete the race he said that was is aim.

Cane has out raised Sample-Hughes with a total of $47-thosuand from previous fundraising.

Meanwhile, public officials ranging from Wicomico County President Matt Holloway and Wicomico County Sheriff Mike Lewis to Delegate Norm Conway and Wicomico County NAACP Branch President Mary Ashanti have donated to her campaign.
