Ten Story UD Office Building Planned for Newark

NEWARK, Del. (AP) - Newark's skyline may soon be changing with a developer's plans to build a 10-story office tower for the University of Delaware's research campus.

The News Journal reports the new Science, Technology and Advanced Research Campus will be a skyscraper by Newark standards. It would be visible to motorists on the interstate more than a mile away.

Developer Ernie Delle Donne is planning the project and hopes to fill the building with high-tech tenants. Delle Donne says he is considering moving forward with construction without a single commitment from a future occupant.

Parts of the 272-acre campus are already coming to life. The new College of Health Sciences building was built on the site of a former Chrysler auto plant. Tenants are expected to be moving in by year's end.
