UD to Sell Energy Credits from Wind Turbine on Lewes Campus

LEWES, Del. (AP) - The University of Delaware will start selling energy credits from a wind turbine on its Lewes campus to Delaware Municipal Electric Coop.

WMDT-TV reports that the three-year-old turbine typically creates enough energy to power 5,000 homes for an entire year. It's currently being used to power the Lewes campus.

Delaware Municipal Electric Coop will also create a graduate scholarship at the Sussex County Campus, which includes the College of Earth, Ocean and Environment. Coop President Patrick McCullar says it is great to buy renewable energy credits from a Delaware source and a privilege to fund a university fellowship.
