High Alert at George Read Middle School After Threat

The Colonial School District has been put on high alert after finding a note in a student advisor’s mailbox in the main office that threatened to bring a gun to school today to kill people.

Superintendent Dorothy Linn tells WDEL that the threat came from the George Read Middle School yesterday.

The station reports that it is believed a student is behind the threat and that the police are analyzing the fingerprints to figure out the identity of its author.

As of this morning Delaware state police say they have not made an arrest and a heavy police presence should be expected at the school today.

Superintendent Linn said that parents should not be afraid of sending their children to school but they will be excused if they are absent because parental concerns.
