WEST OCEAN CITY, Md. (AP) - Maryland State Police are asking for the public's help in finding the driver who fled after striking and killing a pedestrian in West Ocean City.

Troopers say 58-year-old Jerold Lee Sharoff of West Ocean City died at a local hospital after being hit Thursday.

Authorities say Sharoff was crossing eastbound Route 50 at Elm Street when he was hit.

TheDaily Times of Salisburyreports that troopers say the vehicle involved is a full-sized red Ford pickup truck that likely has front-end damage and is missing a clear, thin headlight lens, as well as an amber marker light lens.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Berlin barracks at 410-641-3101.
