The Delaware town of Laurel has doubled its historic size with major annexations in the north and northeast downtown area.
All of the annexations were granted after requests from the homeowners themselves.
Council member Don Phillips told WBOC that the growth is due in part to the increased efforts to provide services to these areas.
He said within the last two months the town will start phase one of a project that will expand waterline from the center of the town to Route 13.
And, the city is hoping that this will further entice developers to build businesses in the town.
