Delaware Nears Top Friendliest List for Bicycling

Don Rush

The League of American Bicyclists says that Delaware is the 5th friendliest state in the county for the national past time.

And it topped the Northeastern states.

Governor Jack Markell said that this demonstrated the progress the state has made in its expansion of trails and pathways.

Two years ago Markell challenged the state to raise its ranking launching the First State Trails and Pathways Initiative between Delaware Department of Transportation and the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control.

In 2012 the state moved from 18th to 10 place.

In Newark today cyclists rendezvoused near Newark to make the annual legislative bike ride to Dover
