Boston Bombings Felt by "Race for the Cure" in Ocean City

The bombings at the Boston Marathon have turned local attention to the security at Ocean City’s “A Race for the Cure 5K” race this weekend. 

And, Komen Maryland spokeswoman Brittany Fowler said safety is among the group’s highest priorities.

Komen which sponsors the race works closely with Ocean City police and paramedics in meetings that focus on runner and participant safety.

Ocean City will block off roads and position police along the race route.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports that 25-hundred people have preregistered to run on April 21.

Patrolman 1st Class Mike Levy of the Ocean City Police Department told the paper, that safety – whether its OC Air Show or the Dew Tour – is the resort’s top priority.
