Blue Hen Football Coach Fired

Football coach K. C. Keeler who led the Blue Hens to an 86-to-52 record in eleven seasons was fired yesterday.

Delaware finished 5-6 after winning th

eir first four games last season the worst record since 1967.

Athletic director Eric Ziady, who took over last October, said that there were many factors that led him to have serious concerns about the direction of the program.

He said that there were only 20-thousand fans for one game at Delaware Stadium this season while schools in smaller conferences were averaging larger crowds.

Keeler, a former linebacker, replaced Tubby Raymond as head coach in 2002 leading them to a National Championship in 2003.
