This weekend the New Castle County Police Academy will be given a new name.
On Sunday it will be renamed for Lt. Joseph Szczerba and will mark the one-year of his death in the line of duty.
He was stabbed in a scuffle with David Salasky while he tried to take him into custody.
Salasky has been charged with murder as a result of the incident.
Among those attending the ceremonies will be County Executive Paul Clark and Police Chief Scott Mclaren and his widow Kathy.
