Hit And Run Kills Pedestrian in Newark

The Newark Police say a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle last night Library Avenue then fled the scene.

Police said the accident was reported around 8:30 pm in front of the Newark Free Library just south of Ogletown Road.

Police say the car that fled the scene may have been a Honda but said they did not have other details.

Authorities say it is likely that the vehicle has some front-end damage and possible damage on the right side.

According to police the woman was crossing from College Square Shopping Center when she was struck by the southbound vehicle.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.
