Berlin Town Council to Consider Easing Two Zoning Restrictions

Berlin officials are expected to take up the issue of whether to loosen zoning restriction during today's Town Council meeting.

One ordinance would relax restrictions no local bed and breakfasts.

Currently, there is a limitation on such establishments that 0nly allows breakfast to be served.

B & B onwer Mark Cropper hopes to host wine tasting events if the restriction is lifted.

The second measure would permit a home to be built up to 35 feet high, if the surrounding homes are also higher than 30 feet.

Although Berlin is preparing to begin drawing up its comprehensive plan, Mayor Gee Williams agreed to consider the proposals at tonight's session.
