Ocean Pines Looking for Firefighters

The community of Ocean Pines is looking for fire fighters.

It has more than 8-thousand residents but only has 15 firefighters in total department 62.

Others include emergency medical technicians paramedics and cadets.

Fire Chief Tim Canham has kicked off the campaign telling the Salisbury Daily Times that too often the community has had to rely on other fire departments like Berlin or Showell.

He said he would like to have 30 firefighters divided evenly between the north and south stations.

Ten years ago the total membership was 45.

During the day around three quarters of the current firefighters work and are unable to respond.
