More Wine And Beer Festivals for Worcester County?

Wine and craft beer enthusiasts could see more opportunities to taste their favorites on the Lower Shore.

Legislation in Annapolis would allow three festivals each year in Worcester County and capitalize on the growing the popularity of micro-breweries and local wineries.

Ocean City hosts the Wine Fest at the Beach each fall, while Wicomico County hosts the Autumn Wine Festival and good Beer Festival.

The measure in the General Assembly would allow two more festivals in Worcester County.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports that State Senator Jim Mathias began drawing up the legislation after members of the North Ocean City Business Alliance came to him.

They said they wanted to use the popularity of wines and beers to increase business at the north end of town.
