Delmarva Today 11-15-24 Surviving the Holocaust in Yiddish

Book Cover

In surviving the Holocaust Jews across Europe adapted Yiddish to cope with what would become the unlivable. Host Don Rush talks with Hannah Pollin-Galay, associate professor of Yiddish and Holocauste Studies in the Department of Literature at Tel Aviv University. She has written a new book entitled, "Occupied Words: What the Holocaust Did to Yiddish" which explores how the language adapted and even helped survival in those dark days.

Don Rush is the News Director and Senior Producer of News and Public Affairs at Delmarva Public Media. An award-winning journalist, Don reports major local issues of the day, from sea level rise, to urban development, to the changing demographics of Delmarva.
