Delmarva Today 8-12-22 (Part 1) History of the White Marlin Open

Bryan Russo
Jim Motsko

The White Marlin Open has emerged from the $20,000 in prize money of the 1970's to over $8 million this year. It's founder and owner Jim Motsko tells Delmarva Public Media's Don Rush all he wanted to do was make some money at what he loves to do, that is, fish. Then, he talks with Ocean City Mayor Rick Meehan and Steven Green, publisher and editor of the Maryland Coast Dispatch, about tournament and its impact on the resort.

Don Rush is the News Director and Senior Producer of News and Public Affairs at Delmarva Public Media. An award-winning journalist, Don reports major local issues of the day, from sea level rise, to urban development, to the changing demographics of Delmarva.
