Delmarva Today 2-18-22 (part 1) Teaching About Race in America

Book Cover

Immigrants often have a unique perspective on race in America. Delmarva Public Media's Don Rush talks with Tiffanie Drayton who is from Trinidad and Tobago and has written about her experience in her new autobiography "Black American Refugee: Escaping the Narcissism of the American Dream." Then, we explore efforts by Delaware to create a curricula that incorporates more black history into public education. We talk with Dr. Niklas Robinson, a history professor at Delaware State University, who has been involved in that effort.

Don Rush is the News Director and Senior Producer of News and Public Affairs at Delmarva Public Media. An award-winning journalist, Don reports major local issues of the day, from sea level rise, to urban development, to the changing demographics of Delmarva.
