TOWSON, Md. (AP) - Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz is joining Maryland's crowded race for governor.
The Baltimore Sun reports that he plans to officially make the announcement Monday morning.
The 59-year-old Democrat has been county executive since December 2010. He told The Sun that he's created jobs, improved schools and protected the environment during his tenure. And he said he's done so without raising taxes.
The Democratic primary for governor is a crowded one for next year's election.
The field already includes Prince George's County Executive Rushern Baker, state Sen. Richard Madaleno and former NAACP president Ben Jealous. Also running is former Michelle Obama aide Krish Vignarajah, entrepreneur Alec Ross and lawyer Jim Shea. The primary is June 26.
