Mrs. Charles Stephenson & Family Celebrating Emancipation Day 1900

The nation celebrates Juneteenth Day that marks the emancipation of slaves. But, it comes at a time when state lawmakers are attempting to restrict what can be taught about the issue of race in this country's history. Delmarva Public Media's Don Rush talks with Kirkland Hall, president of the Somerset County Branch of the NAACP, about this moment in time.

Don Rush is the News Director and Senior Producer of News and Public Affairs at Delmarva Public Media. An award-winning journalist, Don reports major local issues of the day, from sea level rise, to urban development, to the changing demographics of Delmarva.
