All Marylanders will be required to wear masks when entering retail establishments, grocery stores or riding any form of transportation.
Governor Larry Hogan issued the executive order effective 7 a.m. this Saturday April 18.
In addition, staff at all essential retail establishments will be required to wear face covering and keep the appropriate social distance from others.
Meanwhile, the governor said that there is some light at the end of the tunnel for the coronavirus pandemic.
The Salisbury Daily Times reports Hogan said that the state is now in a position to gradually roll out a recovery plan which, he emphasized, will be slow and well thought out.
So far, there have been over 10-thousand confirmed coronavirus cases with 349 deaths.
Meanwhile, over 600 in the state have recovered from the virus.
