TOWSON, Md. (AP) — Criminal charges will not be filed against the Maryland police officer who fatally shot a man accused of threatening to hurt himself and others.

News outlets report Baltimore County police released body camera video and 911 audio Thursday in the fatal shooting of 48-year-old Eric Sopp.

He was shot and killed on Interstate 83 in November after his mother reported he threatened to kill himself and may be driving while drunk.

The Baltimore County State's Attorney's Office declined to press charges against the officer.

Sopp's mother released a statement saying there was no reason for the officer to fatally shoot her son.
