ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — The case of a man who has pleaded guilty but not criminally responsible to killing five people at a Maryland newspaper has been delayed.
Judge Laura Ripken on Monday delayed the sanity phase of the trial until June, when jurors will be chosen.
Jarrod Ramos pleaded guilty in October to all charges against him, including murder.
But a jury now must determine whether he was legally sane at the time of the June 2018 shooting at the Capital Gazette's office. Defense lawyers asked for the delay.
They said they needed more time to prepare since one of the team's attorneys is stepping down.
